What Can Small and Large Businesses Learn From Each Other?

Hello all,
Large businesses are so much more organised and well-managed than small businesses because they have learnt from their mistakes and have the budget and resources to keep performing better. However, it does not mean that small businesses do not have any business sense. They have been innovating with limited means and bringing out the best in their entities by following some out of the box thinking and taking risks that big businesses usually avoid. Thus, both have their own strengths and weaknesses, and they can learn a lot from each other. It can work for both the entities. Here is an article that will help you understand how they can help each other grow.

Ground crew, baggage handlers threaten strike action prompting fears of further delays at major Australian airports

Long queues, flight cancellations and baggage delays at major Australian airports could worsen, with "chronically overworked" ground crew threatening strike action over pay and working conditions.
The Transport Workers Union (TWU) said about 700 baggage and ramp operations staff at global aviation company, Dnata, will apply to the Fair Work Commission today to hold a vote on industrial action.

The TWU claims the company is attempting to push through an "unpalatable" new work agreement that "gives pay cuts to experienced workers and below award minimum conditions".

Peter Coaldrake report on accountability in Queensland public sector reveals issues with 'fearless advice'

In the wake of handing down a landmark report on accountability issues in Queensland's public sector, Professor Peter Coaldrake says his review reveals a culture of public servants paying a high price for providing frank and fearless advice.
He handed down his final report titled Let The Sunshine In yesterday, which made 14 recommendations to strengthen accountability and integrity mechanisms in the Queensland government.

Professor Coaldrake spoke on ABC Radio Brisbane this morning, where he detailed culture issues within the public sector, but said it was not unique to the Palaszczuk government.

"The whole principal of public service — the noble tradition of public service — is that people do their jobs with a level of independent judgement, that they have no fear about providing advice, and that they do so frankly," he said.

ABC Radio Brisbane Evenings presenter Kelly Higgins-Devine could have ignored the warning when she felt a slight chest pain while walking.

"My heart rate would start to go up, and I'd start to feel breathless and I'd get a slight ache in my chest," Higgins-Devine said.
She said she was lucky to have had it.

"A lot of people get no notice that something is wrong," she said.

Higgins-Devine visited her general practitioner and was quickly scheduled for several tests.

Echocardiograms, a stress test and an angiogram revealed two of her arteries were running out of time.

  1. Plan In Advance

The most important about your relocation process starts with the planning stage in the following manner:

  • First, you need to create a time frame for when you want the move to occur and assess how much time you have.
  • You then need to start organising your moving services by hiring a removalist service in Brisbane.
  • It is always a good idea to book these moving services in advance to book the day you want and get better quotes and prices.
  • You should also start changing your billing address and notifying all the utility companies.
  1. Create An Inventory

After planning your relocation, you need to start organising your belongings before you can start packing them. You can do this is in the following way:

  • You should start room by room and make a list of all the items in each room.
  • You can create copies of this inventory list so that you and your removalist service in Brisbane have one when moving house.
  • Next, go through your list and arrange the items into three piles: sell, throw and donate.
  • All the items that are in a bad shape and cannot be used should be thrown away.
  • It would be best to make a pile of items that you don’t need anymore but it is still in good condition and can be sold.
  • Organise a garage sale and sell all these items to get extra money for moving.
  • Any items that don’t sell can be put in a donation box and donated to a local charity.
  1. Start Packing Your Things

Now that you have all the items you need, you can start packing them. Follow the steps below so that you can properly pack your items:

  • Firstly, start by packing all the non-essential items in advance to be ahead of the game.
  • Use smaller boxes for your fragile items, and double wrap all of these items.
  • Removal experts in Brisbane recommend that you fill the empty spaces with bubble wrap or newspaper, so the items are safe and don’t get damaged.
  • Keep heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top to stay well-balanced.
  • Make sure you securely tape all boxes and check the sturdiness of every box you pack.
  1. Label All Your Boxes

You should then label all your boxes room by room and label all your fragile items so that the removal experts in Brisbane can load them carefully. This will also help you unpack the boxes more efficiently as you can go room by room.

  1. Keep A Bag Of Essentials

You must also pack a bag of all your essential items to help you survive the first few days of the move, such as:

  • Medicines
  • Toiletries
  • Chargers
  • Food items
  • Change of clothes
  • Important documents
  • Kitchen utensils
  • A pan

Keep this bag of essentials with you when you move so that you don’t have to unpack everything on day one.

  1. Backload Your Items

You can also save a little money on moving costs by backloading your items on the rental truck. This means you will only have to pay for how much space your items occupy on the rental vehicle and this will significantly reduce your costs.

It would be best if you now let the removal experts in Brisbane take over and let them load the trucks with your belongings. They are well trained in loading and moving all your belongings safely and will make sure they move all your items in the time frame you set for them.

Queensland's frontline workers begin series of legal challenges to COVID-19 vaccine mandate

The first of several civil cases, brought on by dozens of Queensland frontline workers who are challenging their COVID-19 vaccine mandates, including police officers and paramedics, has begun in Brisbane.
More than 70 Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) staff who have refused to comply with their employer's directives, are testing the legality of the policies in the Supreme Court, arguing they are unjust or an improper exercise of power.

Some of the applicants, made up of three groups, have also claimed that similar directions made by the state's Chief Health Officer last year breached human rights laws, but that matter will be heard at a later date alongside other similar legal challenges.
