"We're expecting a big flu season this year," she said.

"We are already seeing more flu cases this year than we had for the whole of 2021. Some people will end up getting COVID and influenza and this is of great risk.

Brisbane City Council will proceed with the demolition of the former East Brisbane Bowls Club in Mowbray Park despite a sustained community campaign to keep the community facility.
The council released a finalised plan for renovations to the heritage-listed park on Monday, six months after first indicating the proposed demolition was on the cards in a draft vision for the park.

The LNP administration claimed the July proposal was based on community feedback from a December–February online survey and pop-up consultation kiosks with responses from 560 residents.

ABC Radio Brisbane previously revealed the council's internal summary of the community survey specifically mentioned "upgrading" the heritage-listed bowls club building at the Lytton Road park.
